He may not be the type to forget his womanising ways, but if he did decide to settle down, Natalya Simonova (played by Izabella Scorupco in Goldeneye) would be the Bond girl best suited to 007.
This is according to our brand new psychological study conducted by eHarmony.co.uk’s relationship experts, who in honour of the release of the new Bond Movie Spectre have uncovered the best female match for Bond from the film series to date.
James Bond expert Brian Pendreigh completed psychological profiles for fifteen of the most iconic Bond girls since 1962, and a composite profile for 007 himself1. The relationship experts at eHarmony.co.uk then scored each profile on the 29 dimensions of compatibility needed for a successful long-term relationship, which include personality traits such as your emotional temperament, social style, values and beliefs, right down to your sense of humour2.

Bond’s most compatible partners
Natalya Simonova (Goldeneye – Izabella Scorupco) came out on top due to her calmness in dealing with tricky situations and her willingness to let Bond take the lead – necessary qualities when coping with the secret agent’s hectic lifestyle. Alongside this, her warmth and capacity to care are complimentary characteristics to 007’s more stoic nature, making her more likely to form a lasting bond with Bond.
Following Natalya, 007’s second best match is Plenty O’Toole (Diamonds Are Forever – Lana Wood). Whilst sharing relatively few scenes with Bond, their well-matched libidos and sense of extraversion would deliver a highly charged romance, were it not for her untimely demise.
Rounding out the top three is Anya Amasova (The Spy Who Loved Me – Barbara Bach). Her independent nature means both would get enough space in their relationship – key for lone wolf 007. Their career choices also mean they react quickly to situations rather than planning ahead – meaning whether investigating submarine thefts or booking a spontaneous weekend break, nobody does it better.
Bond’s least compatible partners
Surprisingly, the least compatible match was ‘Tracy’ de Vicenzo (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – Diana Rigg) – the only Bond girl to marry 007. Tracy would have struggled with being Bond’s lover due to her anxiety and unstable past. With Bond always at risk and around temptation, being with him would have left her more shaken than stirred.
Meanwhile, iconic Bond girls Pussy Galore (Goldfinger – Honor Blackman) and Honey Ryder (Dr. No – Ursula Andress) also end up placing in the bottom five, as their conflicting character traits with Bond would soon cause cracks to emerge.
Film critic, author and Bond expert Brian Pendreigh commented on the findings:
“I think people will be quite surprised that Natalya came out as 007’s perfect match well ahead of a number of iconic Bond girls like Honey Ryder or Tracy. Though Natalya wasn’t one of the most famous Bond girls, she is smart, her heart is in the right place, and she would probably exert a calming influence on him – which is more than I can say the for second placed Plenty O’Toole!”
