A well-heeled market town on Somerset's border with Wiltshire, Frome still has cobbled streets in places, and a step down Catherine Hill is like a step back in time. A welcome one, with lots of lovely shops on the sides, but a step back nonetheless.
The Frome dating scene however, is firmly in the modern world, and it's only fitting that in the town that birthed Formula One racer Jenson Button, hearts should be set racing from time to time.
The famous poet Christina Rossetti once helped run a school here. She was known particularly for 'Goblin Market', a work that is either a Victorian example of juicy lesbianism or a quietly Christian meditation on the relationship between nature's temptations and more 'civilised values'. Or maybe it's just a good poem.
Regardless, Frome carries on the relationship today, and both Art and Nature are in plentiful supply for any dating couple ready to explore them. The town's a centre of artistic talent, from the exhibitions of Rook Lane or Black Swan Arts, to the drama of the Frome Memorial Theatre and the Merlin Theatre.
And heaven forbid we forget the outdoors! The entire South West is known for beautiful countryside, having never been especially developed, and areas surrounding Frome are no exception. Whether the Mendip Hills between here and Wells, or the Cotswolds that extend all the way down to Bath, if all you're looking for are pretty walks, picnic spots, viewpoints and country pubs, you're absolutely sorted. An honourable mention also goes to nearby Glastonbury Tor, with views across the Somerset Levels - spiritual types might even want to do some shopping in the town's often quirky shops as well.
Are hills too static for your taste? If your date loves animals, or just a thrill ride, then Longleat isn't far away. Host to hundreds of animals, you can drive through habitats, try not to hit any zebras crossing the road, and lose your windscreen wipers to the monkeys. No-one ever knows what they do to the windscreen wipers - we'd personally like to think they're using them as lances and riding warthogs. There's also a whole host of rides at the park, as well as the stately home of the lovably eccentric Lord Bath himself.
Whether you want to chill out in Frome's Victoria Park, or dine finely on a slap-up meal on the steam trains of the East Somerset Railway (they even run murder mystery nights!), it's more fun with company. So if you're a member of the Frome singles crowd, consider being a member of the eHarmony dating website too.
eHarmony matches you with other people only if you share enough to be considered highly compatible. That way, unlike most of the online dating Frome has on offer, you get a select list of singles you could really hit it off with rather than a digital equivalent of a local phonebook. It all goes towards a better Frome dating scene, so why not register now? You never know who you might meet.
