More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Time with friends, intimacy and honesty, writing, the arts especially music, social justice, making a worthwhile contribution to those around me

I typically spend my leisure time

In my spare time, such that it is, I enjoy spending time with those close to me most of all, love walking in the countryside, travel, cycling sometimes, photography and making art, writing, reading, attending art exhibitions and concerts, gardening, cinema and the odd time spent in quiet reflection.

The most influential person in my life has been

Acceptance of yourself and others as they are, tolerance, self-awareness including being in touch with your deeper emotions. Personal warmth, optimism, a caring nature, sensitivity, being a good listener, kindness come close to the top of my personal agenda in terms of qualities that attract me to another.

The first thing people notice about me

Perhaps, it might be my unassuming and friendly manner?that and maybe, my wrinkly smile.

The last book I read and enjoyed

The last book I read was ?Ordinary Thunderstorms? by William Boyd ? a thriller. It was a conspiracy novel about the fragility of social identity, the corruption at the heart of big business and the secrets that lie hidden in the underbelly of the everyday London. It was a good yarn. I especially enjoyed William Boyd?s beautiful use of evocative language.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. laughter and the warmth of positive, caring interaction with others
  2. being alive and open to new experiences
  3. finding beauty and interest in the world

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Lots of people see me as being strong and resilient (which I might be?usually) and perhaps overlook that I?m vulnerable and sensitive too. Sometimes, it?s not seen as very ?manly? to be vulnerable. I disagree, to be strong and admit one?s vulnerability too feels like a positive quality to me.

Friends Describe me as

Creative, Intelligent, Perceptive, Warm
