The one thing I am passionate about...
Passionate about ideas and politics with a small 'p'.. I do think that privatising water, for example, was and is a significant political issue, and privatising the nhs similarly. However, I have not been so politically active over the last few years .. mainly due to moving to the south west and a career change which has taken a lot of time and energy... leaving me quite inwardly focussed. Like spending time doing simple things with friends, love Spain.
I typically spend my leisure time
Walking on Cornish beaches, doing 'nothing' in particular, reading, talking or being with friends. Film and theatre are not 'typical' events as I live in Cornwall at the moment, but they are big pleasures to seek out when possible. I just found out about outdoor cinema on the north coast, so will check that out before the season ends, and a friend has recently invited me paddle boarding, which of course I will try. Have yet to get a wet suit, but might be tempted....
The most influential person in my life has been
Probably intelligence, as I find that quite 'sexy' as well as probably qutie important in terms of compatability. I think of intelligence as including some level of emotional intelligence.... curiosity about the world, openness. An ability to laugh, to care for others is quite nice too!
The first thing people notice about me
Accent maybe (midlands) ... humour possibly a little later ...who knows? I dunno, it's a hard one ...the first thing we notice in others is also something to do with ourselves so maybe differs according to the person doing the noticing ...
The last book I read and enjoyed
I am reading a novel set in Mexico, set in the household of Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera. Trotsky turns up in hiding, and the book is written through the eyes of a young Mexican/North American man who works in the household. Apparently he casts in his lot with art and revolution --- haven't got to that bit yet. But I have quite a strong connection to all things Spanish, so am enjoying the mix of art, politics and Central American context.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- good friends
- a job which i enjoy
- the ability to get a lot of pleasure from simple things
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
that i'm not just a strong, independent, feminist woman .. that I am also vulnerable, fun, sexy and many other things.... gosh, it's a hard question .... maybe some people see that all first, and I want them to see that I'm also strong, independent ..... We are a mixture of things - and some things are quite right to find out about with time!
Friends Describe me as
Easy-Going, Good listener, Intelligent, Spontaneous
A little more about me
I love spontaneity in my life, and whilst a 9-5 job precludes much of this, it is still my aim to preserve as much as I can in my life. Would be great to meet someone who feels that life still has many possibilities for them and new things to discover...
