More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am passionate about steel pans. I played while at university and in grad school. I just LOVE the feeling I get while playing with the band! The pieces are such great fun and being a part of a team that is focused on having a good time and playing great tunes is so invigorating!

I typically spend my leisure time

Jogging, listening to music, reading, walking along the beach, watching movies, playing piano or studying Japanese.

The most influential person in my life has been

Honesty, humility and realism. They must be honest with themselves about who they are and what they want, humble enough to take constructive criticism from someone even if they are somehow deemed less than their equal and realistic enough to know that relationships are the hardest work they will ever do in life.

The first thing people notice about me

I would say the gap between my two front teeth, but that's appearance. Since I live in the UK, I could say my American accent. BUT . . . I'll say my easy-going, laid-back nature.

The last book I read and enjoyed

"The Fault in our Stars", by John Green. I'm reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" with my daughter now. However, one of my favorites is "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan", by Lisa See. The story follows a Chinese girl from early childhood when she gets her feet bound to her late life. It has many emotions in it and is the first BOOK to ever make me cry . . . a lot!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My daughter
  2. The fact that I'm able to spend quality time with myself
  3. My parents

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Just how observant I really am. I can be very quiet upon meeting people, though not always and some people leave with the impression that I'm not very bright. On the contrary. I observe people and listen to find out a bit about someone's nature in order to better figure out who I can possibly trust and get along with. I'm a pretty good judge of character, I've been told.
