More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I am fascinated by people in all their diversity--I like to try to understand what makes them "tick".I am passionate about Jesus Christ and allowing him to shape the way I view and move through the world--though I am also pretty dismayed at how often the passion of Christians has had the unfortunate effect of driving people away from Christ, rather than towards him, and so I tend to be more careful in how I express that passion in the presence of others, seking first to estabish their acceptance just for being who they are.I have always been passionate about reading and writing and learning more about the world in all of its dimensions

I typically spend my leisure time

Reading, walking (being outdoors), cooking, watching some television, visiting with friends, creating fabric art

The most influential person in my life has been

Honesty (very closely followed by a sense of humour)

The first thing people notice about me

I am not really sure what it is that they are sensing, but people of all ages (and especially children and older people) seem to trust me pretty quickly and will just start telling me things about their lives, even though I may be a complete stranger to them.

The last book I read and enjoyed

One of the most recent books I have read is The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I had already seen the film, which really moved me and made me think about how differently from adults children tend to interpret events and people and situations. Maybe because I knew how things end up (I won't give away the plot!), the book was not quite as intense as the film, but it is written in a style that shows forth a particular innocence that children unfortunately tend to be "educated" out of.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. family
  2. the beauty of nature
  3. not having to worry about food, shelter, finances--the basics

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I tend to be reserved (used to be quite shy and still have some of those tendencies)when I first meet people, and so they might not notice that there is a whole wide world of thoughts and feelings and imaginings and hopes swirling around inside me--that I like to share with people who take the time to earn my trust.

Friends Describe me as

Funny, Genuine, Good listener, Thoughtful

A little more about me

I'm willing to invest the time to get to know you, if it seems that we're a good match. I realise that for a good match, it'll take some time--I hope you'll remember the same applies to me, too. I am looking forward to meeting you!
