The one thing I am passionate about...
I do take time at the end of each day to prepare a proper meal. I don?t use the convenience isle in supermarkets much. I like to eat in tune with the seasons and with produce availability, I do like fresh stuff: herby, spicy, whatever. I just need someone to appreciate and enjoy all this food I?m knocking up! There?s wine in the fridge (white), or the garage (red). Just leave some of the chocolates at the end (they are also in the fridge).I also like a bit of culture. Recently I went to see a Bristol Old Vic dramatisation of Jane Eyre. I am always looking at architecture of some sort on my travels.
I typically spend my leisure time
Going for a long walk, or visiting an historic site or museum. Occasional bit of random potholing or caving, but generally afraid of the dark. I go out walking one day most weekends. I usually start off with a civilised breakfast somewhere, and then get out into an averagely wild or interesting place. On lazy leisure days, like when it's really hot, I like to find a place where you can get the car near the beach, and have a picnic from the back of the car.
The most influential person in my life has been
Reliable. Consistent. Understands things. I'm uncomfortable with vanity in all it's forms, and the superficial fulfilment that can waste the unwary life.
The first thing people notice about me
I don't take myself too seriously, but I can be serious when necessary. Of course it's not possible to notice that at first, so I guess this is the answer to a different question!
The last book I read and enjoyed
Seventy Three Shades. The Poetry of John Betjeman. The Poetry of A. E. Houseman. Geological Excursions In The Harlech Dome. How To Cut A Sandwich Diagonally Using Just Three Knives And A Spoon.
The three things which I am most thankful for
- my health
- my education
- my family
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
Good at DIY - do plumbing, e.g. Installing radiators; showed; do electrics - adding sockets to ring mains not just replacing fuses!, sorting out rotten floors, member of NT, RSPB, CAMRA (job done I think!), YWT, WWT I don't make grand claims about what I am, or what I am going to do. Just judge me from what I do actually do, rather than what I say I am going to do; actions speak louder than words.
Friends Describe me as
Dependable, Energetic, Genuine, Rational
A little more about me
I like to go to the theatre when I can. I passed all my technical subjects at school but didn't really understand literature. So over time I'm gradually teaching myself as much as I can. I recently went to see another dramatisation of Jane Eyre; why does that story always move me so much? I also have the Jungle Book CD in my car to further expand my mind.I don't work in a factory and I don't work in a lab. My work office is in London but I work mainly at home where the coffee and tea are superior. I travel around the country quite a bit, including Scotland and south-west England, more so recently, but expect this to reduce
