More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

Not sure I can say this without sounding like a big bag of clichs, sorry but here goes...You need to find happiness, it doesn't come looking for you. So I'm passionate about finding those opportunities to be happy, to smile and to laugh.Oh, and cake. I'm passionate about cake.

I typically spend my leisure time

I'm an active person and exercise is really important to me. I love getting out for a run, cycle or walk in the fresh air, especially surrounded by great scenery and accompanied by friends.Who doesn't love a holiday? Skiing and walking in the Lakes are annual staples, but a summer trip to the mountains is always welcome, and this year I'm off to the States for the first time (travel advice for San Francisco would be welcomed!).I really enjoy eating out (I'm a main course and pudding person), preferably at a nice country pub, and a trip to the cinema always goes down well. And how can I not mention spending time with my niece and nephew!!!

The most influential person in my life has been

I'd love to find someone positive, able to see the opportunities in life, and be willing to take them. If that positive person also has a sense of humour then that would be great. But the question only asks for one quality and I've now given two, so I'd better stop there.Actually, no I won't stop - I'll just add that I'm also an absolute sucker for a smile.

The first thing people notice about me

Probably that I'm smiling and that my hair's all over the place (as in messy - I'm not moulting or anything!).

The last book I read and enjoyed

History of the Rain by Niall Williams; I can barely remember the plot but the language was wonderfully lyrical. Close to finishing David Copperfield now - haven't read enough Dickens!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Family
  2. Friends
  3. Health

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

My hidden depths (haven't we all got those!) - behind the smile and cheap laughs I'm a deep thinker. Go on, ask me some big questions!!!
