Big question: How much do you drink on a date?

by eHarmony

First dates can be exciting and nerve-racking in equal amounts. If those nerves take over it can be very tempting to have a drink or two to calm you down. A glass of wine in moderation is fine, but a bottle of wine is going to have you behaving like an idiot – and when you’re under pressure the line between the two can be surprisingly hard to tread. What do you think about drinking on a first date? And if you don’t drink, how do you feel if your date does? Share your views and stories below.

It can be so tempting to get stuck into the wine on a date, but I’ve learnt from my own mistakes. Wine tends to set me talking WAY to much and then you never hear back from the other person…Now I stick to one or two glasses at the most. BEWARE ladies!!

I made this mistake too. I was in fact encouraged by my date to drink. (I wasn’t really interested at the start of the date). Never ever again is all I will say. I didn’t have much but you should always be on your guard when meeting someone for the first time.

A young female friend of mine (who drinks way too much anyway) went on a blind date with a guy & got hammered drunk, ended up in his house a few hours later then walking the streets late at night looking for a taxi home. Nothing untoward happened to her & her date was a perfect gentleman but she messed up any chance of more dates & was very lucky that she lived to tell the tale.
