alan asks why people dont post photos,maybe its because there not good looking and it might put sobody off contacting them.

Thanks for getting in touch. It looks like your photos have been declined (each member photo is moderated by our Customer Care team), though I’m afraid I can’t see exactly why. You have two options:

1. You can try uploading some different photos. You can check our photo posting guidelines here: http://help-singles.eharmony.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/132/~/what-are-your-photo-posting-guidelines%3F
2. Alternatively you can call our Customer Care team for free on 0800 028 0308. They will be able to tell you why your photos were declined and give you some advice on choosing a different photo.

hi, i cant seem to upload a photo, it is within the limits, its a jpeg small in size and not nude or anything like that…so why is it not an approved photo?????

in regard to people not putting up photo’s as worried will be seen by co-workers etc…. what are they doing on here then? they can hardly question why you are on here if htey are on here themselves? hmmmmmm bit of a lame excuse on that one.

If you go to the profile of the match you’re communicating with and click the ‘Mailbox’ tab you’ll be able to see all the messages you’ve sent each other.

may I also add to the above… photos of cars and motorbikes – again why, don’t want to have a relationship with your car.. There seems to be a lot of middle aged/elderly men in biking leathers too – not a deal breaker for me to be honest – just a simple recent pic and one is usually enough – always wary when I have to view a whole gallery especially when all photos look different

Think I would include the photos of people with their children in this, copious photos of pets and people cuddling their dogs/cats, scenic photos from the frustrated amatuer photographer, the ones where you are surrounded by a group of very young thai women (yes it’s one there) and a profile photo of yourself and your mother (yes sadly also on there) photos of anyone wearing speedos especially when they are made for a much smaller person and any topless photos as yes..less is more, photos in fancy dress (why??), studio shots in black and white with someone lying on a rug (why?) – just a nice head or body shot taken within the past few months… am much more interested in the profile than the picture and a simple recent pic is all that is needed

I agree with EmJay completely. The no children at all option is very important to me and it should be an option – EH is after all saying my ideal match is out there somewhere. Yet I note the EH advice to people is to broaden their criteria if they are not getting matches. That actually is saying the opposite.
Photos do need to be clear and representative but this site is also marketed on the basis of something over and above the norm and yet fails to deliver. Maybe it is because what men and women want is diametrically opposed?
There has been a free fortnight when I’ve not had a single match for a 60 mile radius, 10 year age range. The fora are the best bit about the site.

To add to that, I reccomend that all men and women have a cheap photoshoot session prior to sticking photos up. They don’t cost that much, you look your best and as well as some quality photos for dating sites you have a nice picture to send to your mother for her birthday or something. Half of mine are photoshoot pictures and my mum adores the one I sent her.

Pretty obvious when you think about it, i know my photos are good ones. But I still see grainy or drunken photos all the time. I don’t want to see that kind of thing.

I used a selection of photos from a couple of weddings where I’m in a suit and some photoshoot pictures plus 1 or 2 casual ones. Can’t get much better than that, but then it will only do so much for my ugly self!

Having just read through quite a lot of above I find myself chuckling immensely! Re: POF… I agree with Steve (and loved your hilarious comment regarding the girl with the minging teeth!)… there are some right freaks and pretty much every person who communicated with me was only after a quick roll in the hay! EH is expensive but, aren’t we all on here hoping to meet someone who we can have a long-term, fulfilling and happy relationship with?!? Regardless of what or who you are looking for, how can anyone baulk at £15 a month… jeez… if I meet a ‘normal’ man who makes me happy that’ll be money well spent in my book! I spend double that a month on tea!!! Back to the topic… I personally have 8 photos on my profile and have had absolutely nobody mention them… I sort of felt that they might be a conversation starter or something? On an earlier post re: photos with children in them – I am open to having children as have none, but it is personally extremely important to me that I meet someone who has no children… therefore, if I see a photo of a man with children in it and no explanation as to ‘my goddaughter’ or ‘niece’ I have to close it straight away… only because I am conscious of the fact that maybe it is quite harsh of me to exclude any communication with men who have children, but I want to avoid any awkwardness down the line. However, I do realise I might be closing some people accidentally who don’t have children. EH – can you change the option on the preferences to just ‘has children’ rather than ‘has children at home’ because it personally makes no difference to me either way – both are a no-no for me… this is not because I am a horrible cow – I learnt the hard way that it is extremely difficult to forget a child once you have been a part of their life for say three years… unlike when they are your own, you do not have any rights in those situations and as such it’s a case of once bitten twice shy!!! Therefore – if you are going to put photos on of yourself and a child I would suggest stating what the relationship there is. Though I have to admit – I think if I put a photo on of me and my nephew or my goddaughter – some men might think I’m just looking to find a sperm donor?!?

Lots of people need to remember that eharmony is NOT a dating site, it’s a site for meaningful relationships! So many people are getting that bit wrong. In some ways though, I’m glad, since it means those types of people don’t sign up, and it keeps this community clean of time wasters.

But back on topic; If you do sign up, get a photo up ASAP. I’ve been matched with some people, and I can tell that they are new, as they’re profile is still a bit bare. So I give them a chance to finish it, only to find a week later they still haven’t got a photo up.

Have a photo ready to upload so that you don’t miss out on a potential match! ^^

There are quite a few men who also have photos of their kids.

Alf, re the drink, about half of my photos have me with a drink in front of me. The reason being that most photos of me are taken when I’m out with friends so yes I do have a drink. Having said that my photos have been taken over the space of a few years (I think the oldest is about 3/4 years old) and in one of the photos it looks like I’m sitting with a glass of wine in front of me. In fact I was drinking diet coke that day, the wine belonged to a friend of mine. This was partially due to the angle the photo was taken from and partially due to the fact that she had moved her glass while she was eating. Yes, I do drink but not everyday. Also what you’ve got to remember is that someone drinking say one glass of wine a day could drink less than someone who only drinks once a week but maybe has several glasses of wine (or whatever it is they drink).

I see some profiles where ladies include their daugther or daughters and there’s also a lot of focus within the profile about “my beautiful children” or “my lovely daughters” etc.

I think they have got it all wrong, this is a profile to sell yourself to a prospective partner.

It’s too early to introduce photos of your kids and mention them with more text than a casual “I have 2 daughters” and it’s irrelvant information to me. Why do I want to see your kids when I’m viewing your profile to see if you are my type and to see if spark my interest?

I must say, it astonishes me the number to photos I see on women’s profiles where the lady is holding a glass of wine or some other drink and yet they say in their basic information they only drinks and few times and year or once a week. It at the very least makes me wonder at the accuracy of what has been said in the profile.

you may joke about it but a few months back I met a very pretty girl via a well known dating site… when she got out of car and smiled at me it was something out of a horror movie.

I dont myself have a perfect simon cowel shiney tom cruise smile but her teeth something out of a science fiction movie.

After our drinks and chat, and it was a real shame she was a pretty girl but with a mouth I would never be able to kiss, when I got home I got a text which was something along the lines of …

“I was just telling my friend how if I saw you in a bar I wouldn’t have been interested in you but now I’ve met you and chatted to you I realise I liked your company” – so not only did she have rotten teeth she also had rotten tact!

Must admit the dodgy pictures of men about 15 feet away with sunglasses suggests they have been poked in the eye with a stick and its now glass and not smiling suggests you work for passport control, are officially Britain’s No1 Most Wanted or you have teeth like a row of condemned houses!! Think on.. Close up and personal warts an all with a nice engaging smile it speaks volumes!

I have a couple of photos of me, one close up, the other from waist up, so not long distance, from about that time. The others range from 2008 to this year. There isn’t a big difference in them, apart from the hair colour. The long shot, where you can’t see the face clearly, is a no no though.
