1. Get floral
If you’ve got a Birmingham date than you want to have a natural, relaxed vibe, then look no further than Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens. Perfect for a lazy Sunday wander, the Botanical Gardens offer beautiful surroundings in which to romance your date. Opened in 1832 they consist of 15 acres of plants and glasshouses, and even the least green fingered date will find something interesting or pretty to look at. They also have regular fairs, displays and musical evenings if you want to extend your day!
After all that walking and talking you might need some sustenance so head back into the city centre and hunt down one of Birmingham’s many great pubs for a delicious Sunday roast.
2. Enjoy some free blues
Why head to your nearest bar for that Friday post-work date when there’s something so much more interesting happening in the city? Every Friday ‘Rushour Blues’ puts on a free concert in the foyer of the beautiful Birmingham Symphony Hall. There’s a different artist each week, and you can enjoy the free concert from 5.30pm-7.30pm. Then you can pop round the corner to your nearest favourite bar, and discuss the finer points of jazz, or whatever takes your fancy.
3. Go artsy
Birmingham, like many cities around the UK has some amazing art galleries and museums, and even better a lot of them are free! In fact, if you’re feeling particularly lazy, or in need of variety, you can find all the culture you need under one roof at BMAG (Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery). With a fine pre-Raphaelite collection and over half a million objects to their name, there literally is something for everyone.
The great thing about a museum/art gallery date is that because there’s so much to look at and talk about you get to know lots about your date, and the conversation is unlikely to dry up! Plus lots of venues do open evenings serving drinks and food, with special talks and exhibitions. Museums aren’t just for school kids anymore!

Nowadays there are lots of canal boat trips you can take, whether you just want a quick tour of the inner workings of the city, or a longer dinner cruise. Take your date and see Birmingham from a different perspective.
