Valentine’s Inspiration with the eHarmony Great Date Guide
Are you still looking for the perfect place to take a date this weekend? Or are you planning to celebrate being single for the night?
All our locations were recommended by eHarmony couples, so you know you’re in for an exciting time.
Proud Cabaret Brighton
It may still be cold outside, but things are bound to heat up with Proud Cabaret’s Valentine’s evening, tantalisingly titled Lust or Love. Enjoy a decadent dinner in vintage ballroom surroundings, with entertainment including burlesque and cabaret, and a few extra surprises thrown in.
Add a touch of Downton to your Valentine’s Day with a champagne dinner in the opulent surroundings of Chatsworth House and estate. The setting for the BBC’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, this is the perfect place to take your Mr Darcy or Elizabeth Bennett.
The evening includes arrival through the candle lit 18th Century stables courtyard and five courses of exquisitely cooked food, accompanied by a glass of Chatsworth’s own champagne.
The Stand Edinburgh
Known as the UK’s top destination for great comedy, the laughs don’t stop with the end of Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival, and comedy club The Stand is a favourite with eHarmony couple Jennifer and Donald.
If you’re looking for something a little lighter this Valentine’s Day then The Stand has a fantastic Saturday night line-up including Gary Little, Wendy Wason, Barry Dodds, Jamie MacDonald and Joe Heenan.
To book tickets visit the official site here or call 0131 558 7272.
On The Waterfront
A favourite for eHarmony couple Darren and Bryony, as the name suggests this atmospheric restaurant is located along the picturesque Exeter Quay, making it a perfect end destination for a romantic walk through the historic town or along the riverbank.
All Valentine’s weekend the restaurant is running a special set menu for two, including a mouth-watering selection of tapas dishes, a half and half 16” pizza or his ‘n’ hers surf and turf platter and indulgent desserts to share (surely a true test of love?).
The Stand Glasgow
Another cracking line-up of top comedians from a sister club of The Stand Edinburgh, this Valentine’s Day you can catch sets from Ian Cognito, John Ross, Ben Van Der Velde, Ruth Cockburn and host Billy Kirkwood.

Drink Shop & Do
When it comes to nights out this venue does exactly what it says on the tin. Mixing delicious cocktails with fun arts and crafts activities, Drink Shop & Do ensures there’s never a dull moment.
This week the venue is taking a stand against fluffy toy bears holding plush hearts with an anti-Valentine’s party aimed at subverting the day’s traditional soppiness.
In their own words: “Wether you are foot loose and fancy free or part of a couple that doesn’t need a card company promoted holiday to show their affection, you have a haven at Drink Shop Do!
“Dance like everyone is watching to musical stylings of Dj Jamie Castle, spinning the best of old school you never knew you loved downstairs! Or tap along to the tunes from our favourite ozzie export Dj Huw upstairs.
“Take part in out ‘i Heart…’ twitter competition to win a table! Onesies and Pj’s get in for free!”
Make your Valentine’s Day spectacular with dinner, drinks and a show that’s bound to set pulses racing courtesy of Proud Cabaret. Head to the City for a Lovers’ Lunch, or make an evening date in Camden for a show simply, and tantalisingly, titled Lust.
With a seasonal menu including mouth-watering cocktails and decadent desserts, let your naughty side out for the night.
Tickets start at £35 per person and can be booked by calling 020 7283 1940 or email email@example.com.
The Stand Newcastle
Valentine’s laughs at the Newcastle branch of Great Date Guide favourite The Stand comedy club are provided by Paul Tonkinson, Alfie Brown, George Zach, Tom Taylo and host Raymond Mearns.
Book tickets here or call 0191 300 9700.
Thomas Oken Tea Rooms
Brew up some love this Valentine’s Day at the picturesque Thomas Oaken Tea Rooms, recommended by eHarmony couple Neil and Sarah for its intimate atmosphere and delicious range of food and drink.
This February 14 the tea rooms are sharing the love with a specially designed romantic tea for two. This includes a three-tiered cake plated feast comprising a selection of delicious sandwiches to share (ham, beef, cheese and tuna), followed by an array of sweet treats including chewy macarons, raspberry cupcakes and Oken’s renowned scone served with lashings of clotted cream and jam. This is all washed down with their very special Valentine’s Tea (Yunnan tea leaves with blue mallow blossoms, marigold and red rose petals – it’s fresh and fruity, with a tangy grapefruit note!).
The tea costs £25 for two, and you can add a bit of fizz with a glass of Prosecco each for the special price of £3.65 a glass. Book online or by phone on 01926 399407. Read more about the Thomas Oken Tea Rooms in our Great Date Guide here.
