Inamo Restaurant, Soho

Tablecloths aren’t a traditional ice breaker but you wouldn’t call Pan-Asian Inamo a traditional restaurant. Their innovative ‘interactive tablecloth’ allows you to order your food, check out the chef’s skills and even challenge your date to a game of battleships – all without leaving your seat.

It’s as if Inamo was designed for first dates. With so much action at your fingertips, there’ll be plenty to talk about, even if it is just deciding which ‘mood’ to choose for your table. Not to mention, you’ll avoid the awkwardness of trying to catch a waiter’s attention and with a promise to have your food served in 15 minutes, you won’t have to wait hours for your starters either.

If you’re the kind of person that likes to go the extra mile, you can call ahead and get something special projected onto your table too. It’s a little bit pricy at £45, but then your table design is completely up to you.

It might not be ideal for technophobes, but it worked perfectly for eHarmony’s Belinda and James. “We loved the restaurant as it brought together our love of technology and odd quirky things,” Belinda says.
