Ingleton Falls, North Yorkshire

Waterfalls make for pretty romantic locations, but imagine the impact when you’ve got ten in one place. Just as eHarmony’s Laura discovered when she went on a first date at Yorkshire’s Ingleton Falls.

The 8km or 4 mile route takes between 2.5 and 4 hours to complete depending on your pace. But with some of the UK’s most beautiful waterfalls to see, you won’t be in any hurry to finish. Plus, with nine main areas to walk through on the circular Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, you’re guaranteed something new at every turn. Look out for Thornton Force, the most famous and impressive waterfall on the path.

“Aside from the peace of the place, it’s the perfect date if you enjoy taking photographs,” says Laura, “and it makes for a lovely memento for a first date too.” And besides the dramatic waterfalls and peaceful woodland you’ll also find rare plants, birds and trees surrounding the ancient base rocks that form the Peak District.

And if you’re stuck for a conversation starter, you can buy a leaflet guide at the entrance and learn about the amazing geology and history of the Falls as you walk. Or break the ice with a coffee or lunch at the Falls Café at the start of the trail. But don’t worry if you miss this chance to fill up, you can buy drinks and snacks from the Falls Refreshment Centre located at the halfway point. Not to mention there’s plenty of great locations for picnics if you prefer.
