Neath Waterfall Walk, Neath Port Talbot
Online dating can be a nerve-wracking experience. So where better to calm your nerves than with a walk through the beautiful Vale of Neath and its breathtaking waterfalls?
The peace of the great outdoors was just what Katie had in mind when she picked Neath to meet her eHarmony date – “We chose the waterfall walk as we decided to do something outdoors for a first date and both enjoy sporting activities. Plus, we felt it would be less intense than a dinner date.”
Heralded as one of the country’s most beautiful valleys by 19th Century naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, it means if you’re stuck for things to say, you can always use the picturesque setting as a conversation starter.
Your route is up to you, so you can do as much or as little as you fancy, there’s even 1km which is accessible to wheelchairs. Depending on the trail, you’ll get to see the Sgwd Gwladys (Lady Falls), Melincourt Falls, Aberdulais and Sgwd yr Eira (Fall of Snow).
You can get a Waterfall Country Walking Pack from the Tourist Information Centre at Aberdulais or Pontneddfechan, where you’ll be able to find out more about the area, the falls and 10 walks for you to try out.
You can get more information from the Breacon Beacons National Park on www.beacons-npa.gov.uk and be sure to wear sensible shoes as the spray can make paths slippery!
