On The Waterfront, Exeter
The best lunch or dinner dates are the ones that offer an easy way to continue your date if it’s going well. And Exeter’s Quayside, with its restaurants, events and peaceful waters gives you just that and more.
The Quay is flanked by impressive waterside warehouses, built to serve the booming woollen industry of the 19th century. But even though the ships and traders are long gone, the attraction to Exeter Quay remains for locals and visitors alike.
One such warehouse/restaurant hosted eHarmony couple Darren and Bryony on their first date. “I chose to take Bryony to a pizza restaurant called On the Waterfront. And it was a good choice, the food was awesome and it was a nice relaxed atmosphere to get to know each other,” says Darren. “Afterwards we went for a nice walk along the Quay, followed by a quiet drink at the Prospect Inn.” A winning combination – they’re still together now.
Besides On The Waterfront’s delicious pizzas, they’ve got fresh fish, meats and salads, as well as Gluten Free options so you wouldn’t get caught out if you don’t check your date’s dietary requirements. And if like Darren and Bryony you don’t fancy going home after you’ve eaten, there’s plenty to see and do. You can have a little browse in the antique shops, take a boat trip or if you’re lucky enough, catch one of the Dragon Boat racing or canoeing events. And if you’d like to build an appetite before your dinner, why not rent a bike from Saddles and Paddles and try out their canal trails.
