The Cottage Inn, Bristol
Some great dates start before you’ve even reached your final destination. And for avid cyclists, the journey to your dinner might be just as fun as the meal itself.
For eHarmony’s Rosemary and Richard, the start point was the all-important location. “We met by the harbour on our bikes beside the SS Great Britain and cycled to The Cottage Inn for lunch,” says Rosemary. “SS GB is a place that we both know, is open and public and there’s a number of places to easily cycle to from there.”
But that’s not to say where you end up eating doesn’t matter. After you’ve worked up an appetite, treat yourself to homemade pies and traditional pub favourites at The Cottage. Claiming the best pub location in all of Bristol, you can enjoy the peace of Batlic Wharf, the ‘relaxed end’ of the harbour. The building dates back to 1868 for a real taste of old-Bristol – back when The Cottage was busy with their Baltic timber trade.
Don’t overlook the SS Britain either. More than just a great starting point, it makes for an interesting first date venue in its own right. A ship turned museum, you’ll be able to get a feel for life on board what was the longest passenger ship in the world in 1845-54.
