The Tower Of London, Central London

The White Tower Tower of London

If you thought this historical site was just for tourists and kids on school trips, think again. Not only is there over 1000 years of history to be explored, and the shiny Crown Jewels to be marvelled over, there’s also a programme of events ideal for romantic dates. Plus it’s situated on a stunning location looking out across the Thames, perfect for an after-Tower stroll.

If you want something a little spooky so you can cling on to your date, you might dare to take nighttime guided tour of the dungeons, stairwells and cobbled courtyards. Or perhaps an after-hours drawing class from Art Macabre that fuses art, music and theatre and includes wine. For something way off the beaten date track, check out the regularly updated programme of talks, which has included a torch-lit secret cemetery search with Tower of London curators, and a study day in the Royal Armouries called ‘How Not to Get Killed’.

Perhaps the most romantic event that The Tower of London is known for is their ice rink. Each year from the end of November to the beginning of January you and your date can spin round, link arms, hold hands, and try not to fall over at the Tower’s beautifully lit rink. Not only is this a very Christmassy thing to do, it’s also surely up there with the all time romantic date ideas ever. Unless you are scared of ice-skating of course, in which case it’s probably best to watch from the sidelines with a hot-chocolate and then find something else at The Tower to do.
