4 things you should never regret

by

Regrets, generally speaking, are about as useful as a box of chocolate teapots. After an office debate about what we regretted in life, we at Dating Unplugged decided to put together a list of a few things you really shouldn’t ever regret. Embrace your embarrassments, questionable decisions and rocky relationships. After all, we’re all only human.

“To regret one’s own experiences is to arrest one’s own development. To deny one’s own experiences is to put a lie into the lips of one’s life. It is no less than a denial of the soul.” – Oscar Wilde

1.       Relationships

Broken relationships are painful enough, so don’t add regret into the mix. It won’t help you feel better, and it certainly won’t help you move on. Use past relationships as a way to learn about yourself and move forward – at least then they have some purpose!

2.       A snap decision

It’s done; don’t waste time worrying about it. Whether that decision was to have one more drink in the pub with your mates that meant you missed your last bus, or it was to move to a different country and start a new life, regret isn’t going to fix anything. It won’t conjure up a bus, and it won’t make moving easy. Fix the problem, or embrace the uncertainly – either way, don’t waste time regretting something.

3.       Asking someone out

Asking someone out is a brave thing to do. You build up that moment so much, and if you get rejected it can feel like the worst thing in the world. But we’re here to tell you that you, the guy or girl who made that first move, are great. You did something brilliant, even though it might not have felt like it at the time. Try again; you might be pleasantly surprised at the answer this time.

4.       Anything fun

Fun should never be regretted. Whether it was a particularly flamboyant karaoke performance in front of work colleagues or a holiday romance that faded with your tan, as long as you had fun (and no one got hurt) then where’s the harm?  Cherish the memories, don’t revel in regret.
