Simon proposes to partner Jacinta

The lead singer of The Beautiful South helped a fan propose to his girlfriend 10 months after they met on eHarmony.co.uk.

eHarmony member Simon Barnicoat contacted Alison Wheeler of popular band The Beautiful South to ask for her help in pulling off a unique proposal idea for his girlfriend Jacinta. He asked the well-known singer to re-record her hit song Don’t Marry Her with self-penned lyrics in which he popped the question to partner Jacinta.

To his surprise she got back in contact within just a few hours to say yes and that ‘it was really romantic and quite different’.

The re-recorded lyrics said: “Since the day we met online, on eHarmony, “You have made me as happy, as can be, “I love our little puns and our new family, “Don’t be a Berk, Marry me.”

On Christmas Day Simon got down on one knee and played the unique recording to Jacinta over a slideshow of photographs of their time together. We’re very happy to report she said yes!

The newly-engaged couple have already started planning for their big day and from all at eHarmony – congratulations!
