This Valentine’s day, more than 17 million of us will spend a collective £1.4bn on dates.

Our latest research shows that one in three of us are planning to head out this Valentine’s and spend an average of £81.20 each in the process – that’s £30 more than the average date!

Who’s spending the most?

We found that Northerners buy into Valentine’s in the biggest way, stretching their budget to £94 each and on a nationwide level, it’s people aged 45-54 and those in a relationship but not married who are ploughing more cash into making their dates special.

While 69% of us will opt for a dinner date, a few of us are choosing alternatives such as going for a walk, taking a trip to the local pub or even trying out dance lessons and comedy clubs!
