eHarmony Diaries: Emma’s 2nd post!

by

Ever wondered about other eHarmony users’ experiences of the service? Well, we’ve invited some of our single users to start writing about their time on eHarmony – no holds barred! These are their words, not ours, so check out their blogs and let us know what you think in the comments. Here’s the second post from Emma, a 27-year-old legal consultant from London, who’s bravely agreed to blog for us. You can read Emma’s first post here.

So I finally managed to figure out a good response to my eHarmony mail message and this led to a few messages back and forth. I like the fact that you can have banter but also be yourself and be honest and with someone online who has already passed the eHarmony matching process – it’s a good start!

After a couple of weeks we met up, and had a great evening of chat and red wine – two of my favourite things!  We got on as well in person as we had online, but sadly I didn’t feel that spark that I’m looking for.  The good thing about online dating is that people are pretty upfront about things like that – so I messaged him the next day thanking him for a fun night but said I didn’t really see it going anywhere, and he was fine with it.

So it was back to the drawing board!  Time goes really quickly in cyberspace and in a couple of days I had a few more interesting matches.  I used the ‘questions’ facility to get some basic info from the guys I liked and whittled it down to two potentials who I thought replied (and looked!) like people I’d want to get to know better.  As it stands I’m still chatting with them and trying to arrange a date to meet up.  From the experience with the last guy I’ve learned that while you can have great chemistry with someone over messaging, it does make a difference when you meet face to face, and nothing beats that thrill of mutual attraction.  I’m looking forward to more dates soon and fingers crossed one of my new matches will be as great in person as on paper!
