Love Sundays challenges

This week’s body, mind and soul challenges are set by NLP Master Practitioner, yoga, relaxation & health specialist and founder of Alpha Waves Antonia Boyle

It’s not always easy to relax and if you find your hectic lifestyle has put the squeeze on your Me Time then we’ve got just the inspiration to help you reclaim it. Every week we will be bringing you expert challenges to help you revitalise your body, mind, soul and heart this Sunday.


The challenge: Say hi to five matches on eHarmony this Sunday.

Why: This weekend it’s free to use eHarmony and because we take the time to get to know you and find you really meaningful matches, you can be sure that the people you reach out to are likely to give you butterflies, not the brush off.

Tip: Use our guided communication system to send ice-breakers to your matches. That way we do all the hard work, and all you have to do is click!


The Challenge: If you’ve yet to try yoga, get off to a good start with Tadasana (aka The Mountain Pose). This fundamental and grounding posture will exercise the foundation of your body and give your feet a treat too.

Why: Surprise yourself by what a positive influence this small movement can have over your entire body – calms the mind too. Tadasana brings balance to mind and body and is a great way to start the day. According to yoga and aromatherapy the endings of the body’s energy points are located in the soles of the feet, so it makes perfect sense that this simple pose works from toe to tip.

Tip: Start with bare feet and spend time noticing your breathing before you begin the pose. Don’t actively change your breathing – noticing the breath is enough to slow you down and begin relaxation. When you’re in the pose, you could visualise your feet sprouting roots that draw you into the ground and when you breathe in, grow upwards and breathe out, ground down to the earth.


The Challenge: Discover how easily you can change your state of mind with meditation.

Why: It’s been around for thousands of years and since the 60s there have been many research studies that demonstrate the benefits of regular meditation, both physical and mental. You don’t have to belong to a specific group, it can be done it in the privacy of your own home or anywhere you please. But if you like the idea, you might want to join a practice group, it’s also a great place to meet like-minded people.

Tip: People often believe that to meditate you have to ‘stop thinking’ completely and because of this, many give up before they even start. However, it’s not possible to stop thinking, but you can control your thoughts rather than allowing your thoughts to control you.


The Challenge: Make time in your day to set a clear goal using the medium of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming).

Why: You owe it to yourself to live the best life you can and being in charge of your future is one way to achieve this. Although simple in essence, this exercise has the power to change lives and has done just that! It ensures that your motivation is positive and that you will explore all the pros and cons that surround your goal.

Tip: Give yourself enough time. When this is done on a training session it takes around 1.5 hours. Research has shown that people who set clear goals and write them down are much more likely to achieve them, so have pen and paper at the ready.

My Perfect Sunday

We asked eHarmony member Jo McCourt, 30, of Weymouth to share her perfect Sunday with us:

“I always like to get up after only a few hours sleep and meet the girls to get some breakfast and fresh air!

“There’s a lovely little café on the beach called the Oasis so it’s nice to sit there in the sea breeze and gossip about our antics from the night before!  In the evening it’s time for a carvery or home cooked Sunday dinner (depending if one of us offers up our culinary skills – this doesn’t happen often!).

“And then I get to chill out with some Me Time and catch up on some easy watching TV, as this is the only day I tend to sit and watch any telly, or put on a good film about 8pm.”
