Angela and Anthony
Angela: “I was divorced five years ago and had dated on and off ever since but I joined eHarmony to find someone to settle down with. I wasn’t convinced that eHarmony would work but a couple of my friends persuaded me to try. I’d been on two other dates before I saw Anthony’s profile and I thought he wouldn’t be interested in me at first. I was surprised when I saw that Anthony was a twin like me so I really wanted to talk to him. The next thing I knew, he’d sent me a message.
We’d been talking for a couple of weeks before we met for our first date. We met under the clock at Waterloo station and got on well. Anthony was so polite and he made me feel happy and comfortable, there was no awkwardness between us at all. We went for dinner and then to a pub and talked for hours, we had our first kiss at the pub and our second date was arranged.
The next time we met we went to the theatre and I think we could both feel that there was something between us. I loved the fact that Anthony was so laid back and relaxed every time we met and he treated me so well. After many more dates we went up to Norwich to one of my friend’s birthday parties and they loved him and said that we made a great couple.
In October Anthony took me out for my birthday. We’d already been talking about our future and starting a family together and I made it very clear that I’d say yes if Anthony proposed. We travelled up the Thames on a boat to get into the city, had dinner, saw the play and then headed back to the pier to wait for our boat home. We were stood talking when Anthony put his hand into his pocket. My heart skipped a beat and I thought, ‘This is it, he’s going to ask me!’ Instead of pulling out a ring, Anthony was just checking his phone.
I realised that I really did want Anthony to be my fiancée and that I couldn’t wait any longer. We’d had an amazing night and I wanted to make it extra special. I got out my phone and updated my Facebook status with, ‘I want to say thanks for tonight and everything you’ve done for me. I love you so much and want to be with you forever. Will you marry me and make me the happiest person in the world?’ Anthony’s family live in Canada and I really wanted them to be able to share the moment with us – some of them even knew before Anthony did!
I then had to persuade Anthony to look at his phone and tried to come up with a number of reasons why he should check it immediately! I even tried trying to convince him that my own battery was dead until eventually I just told him to check his Facebook wall. Anthony smiled at me and accepted my proposal and then posted a response to my question. We received so many messages of congratulations from our friends.
Anthony’s family had already invited me to Canada for Christmas and on Christmas day while we were eating dinner, Anthony got down on one knee in front of 22 friends and family. We’re in no rush to get married but one day soon we’ll be husband and wife."
