Jonathan and Hannah
Hannah: “Originally our messages started with a basic couple of lines of ‘how are you?’, ‘I see you went to University, what did you study?’, but they soon started to get longer and longer. Eventually they were taking around an hour to write each time and I guess you could say they became like the modern love letter. We would both try to write at least one email a day to each other and spent around three weeks talking only online.
Soon after, Jonathan asked if I would like to meet up and obviously the answer was yes! He suggested travelling to see me which was an hour drive away, but this didn’t seem to bother him at all. We had both said before that we were nervous but excited to be meeting each other and this was the first time either of us had done something like this, it was both our first time for meeting anyone from eHarmony. We decided to meet for lunch in Derby.
We went to a restaurant and when we sat down to eat, I had my first ‘Oh my God’ moment, when after a second Jonathan stood back up and said that he needed the toilet. I thought he’d changed his mind and left me but was relieved a couples of minutes later when he came back. After our meal we decided to go for a walk as it was a really nice day. We ended up walking for around two hours just talking and getting to know each other. Then we decided to go to the cinema to watch what turned out to be a really long and boring film. At least the company was good!
After seven hours we decided it was probably best to say goodbye as Jonathan had work the next day but we both agreed there and then that we wanted to meet up again soon. We spent the next couple of days text messaging each other a lot, each avoiding the topic of meeting up sooner than planned. We couldn’t wait to see each other again but neither of us wanted to say anything, for fear of rejection. Eventually, I blurted that we should meet again sooner rather than later and Jonathan came to see me the next day.
That day we went for our second date. We went for a meal and then ice skating together. The ice skating itself wasn’t too successful due to my lack of coordination and ability to stand on ice, but we both had a laugh. The more we talked, the more we found we had in common and we seemed so alike. The feelings that we both had towards each other were amazing, everyone talks about a click and we definitely had that click.
Now, many dates later we try and spend a couple of days together every week and we’re finding it increasingly difficult to be apart. Since then our relationship has continued to grow and although it’s still early days, every day it becomes stronger and stronger. We’re looking forward to many happy dates to come and many memories to be formed for the future.”
