Ben and Helen
Ben: “Helen and I met on eHarmony in November 2011 and after around three weeks of communicating through the website we arranged to meet up. Helen cancelled our first date as she was unwell. I thought maybe I’d said something to upset her but thankfully a week later she was back in touch and we met for dinner just before Christmas.
Dinner was great, conversation flowed and there were no awkward silences. We only stopped talking to eat! After exhausting every possible topic of conversation it was getting rather late and we were greeted by the 'kiss-hug-hand shake' end of date decision. Luckily we were both on the same page.
Over New Year I went on holiday (which Helen later told me she thought was a brush-off), but when I returned we had our second date and I wooed her with a 2kg bag of peanut M&Ms, which definitely helped to seal our relationship!
Living 40 minutes away from one another made meeting up during the week a bit more challenging, but we ended up spending most weekends together as we were keen to get to know each other more. Our weekend dates turned into weekend-long dates, which turned into a holiday and eventually we moved in together. Although it all seems to have happened quickly, it never for a minute felt rushed. We feel like we've known each other for years already. From the beginning we've both been very open and honest with one another, and we developed a trust quite quickly which, for us, is very important in a relationship.
eHarmony gave us the opportunity to meet similarly minded people who we shared common interests with, which just wasn’t possible otherwise due to our busy work schedules. We were skeptical about how good the matching process would be but it has worked out fantastically for us, and thanks to eHarmony we are very much looking forward to our future together.”
