Dom and Maria
Dom: “Maria and I joined eHarmony in the summer of 2009. I joined after my sister recommended web dating, having successfully met her partner (now husband) online. I hadn’t had any success through traditional methods so decided to take her advice and give it a go. eHarmony was new on the scene and having seen the adverts on TV I decided to see what was on offer. Exploring this in more detail I was pleasantly surprised to find it offered a lot more than traditional dating sites, exploring in depth personality and values. So I joined up and soon began to get matches coming through. One particular match Maria, immediately took my interest and I was captivated by her wonderful smile and profile so I made contact.
Maria had joined eHarmony after having had an operation on her feet and being laid up for a few weeks decided to give it a go after having seen the adverts on TV. Like me, she had not had much luck through traditional dating. She was interested in my profile and responded to my contact.
After over 12 hours of telephone conversation during that initial week we decided to meet in person. I visited Maria in Windsor and we spent the day walking around the town and eating in a lovely restaurant. There were no awkward silences and we felt comfortable with each other instantly. I think it was actually during our first date that I realised that my relationship with Maria was going to be long-term. In fact, I was so sure about Maria that on our second date I was really keen for Maria to meet my friends. Maria told me that she had prepared lots of questions to ask them about me but when I left them all alone for a few hours it was actually my friends that grilled Maria! My friends are very protective but they definitely approved.
We started to see each other every other weekend. Upon meeting, our attraction and compatibility was instant and it really felt like we had known each other for years. We both felt so comfortable in each other's company. In January 2010 I decided to move jobs to live nearer Maria (moving from Kent to Hampshire) and made the move in April 2010. In May 2011 I proposed to Maria, she accepted and the rest as they say is history!”
