Jordan and Rich
Jordan: “I’d been on quite a few blind dates set up by my friends but they were always so awkward and we never had anything to talk about, I thought I had to try something different. I had recently moved to England, in London, and didn’t know that many people and decided to join eHarmony mainly to meet people, go on dates and have a bit of a social life – I never expected to fall in love, get married, and stay in the UK!
I really liked Rich’s profile – he seemed fun and creative, two very important qualities I look for in friends and dating. We began emailing and honestly had an instant connection; emailing Rich was very different to emailing other guys. I’d always thought I was terrible at flirting but with Rich I seemed to be flirting, and was quite good at it! We didn’t meet up for about eight weeks because I was in the middle of finals and really had to focus with no distractions. By the time I’d taken my final exam, we couldn’t meet quickly enough. We’d been speaking on the phone and texting every day for seven weeks and I was so excited to meet him. He even took a day off work especially to come to London to meet me.
We went for a cup of tea (very English) and then went to the Tate Modern and spent a few hours there. We didn’t want the date to end so ended up going to another museum, and then out for dinner; all in all we were together for over eight hours on our first date – definitely a good sign!
We knew pretty quickly that we wanted to be together, the connection we felt was so strong unlike any other. I met his parents and after a while, we decided to get married. It felt so right; we had fallen madly in love. Both of our families were completely on board and urged us on! Rich only met my parents a few days before we got married as they flew over for the wedding! I knew they’d love him and my mum and his mum got on incredibly well and were giggling away at the thought of their children getting married.
We planned our wedding in about seven weeks and it was a beautiful and emotional day. It didn’t all go to plan, our beloved car broke down in the morning which totally messed up logistics for the day - we ended up to hire two cars last minute to get everyone around and I was also quite sad to say goodbye to our little car! Despite that, the wedding was truly wonderful and we’re so excited to plan the rest of our lives together as husband and wife.”
