Zoe and Jamie
Zoe: “Nine years ago I went through a divorce and hadn’t been in a relationship until I found eHarmony. Before meeting Jamie I’d dated a few people through the site and I’d already had a six-month relationship with another guy. It didn’t really work out for us but we’re actually still really good friends today. After this relationship I was convinced that eHarmony was the place for me to find a long-term relationship and I liked the communication processes, so I tried again.
Jamie and I went through guided communication before he decided to skip ahead and contact me through the email option. We were living in different areas of the country, Jamie in Plymouth and myself in North Somerset, so after we’d exchanged emails we progressed to phone conversations and then decided we wanted to take it further. We met out at a halfway point just outside of Exeter for a pub dinner. I confessed to Jamie that I’d actually come very close to cancelling the date because I wasn’t sure I was ready for another relationship, but there was just something about him that made me give myself a good talking to, and go.
The date was fantastic. We spent a lot of the night just smiling at each other but we also laughed ourselves silly and thoroughly clicked. We talked about anything and everything for so long that we actually had to be asked to leave as they needed to close up! We walked back to the cars and after I’d given Jamie a quick, rather ‘British’ kiss in a ‘thanks for a lovely evening’ kind of way, he very sensibly wound me back in again and gave me the kind of kiss that makes you certain to see stars, tweeting birds and pink fluffy clouds. We phoned each other on our return home and arranged our second date.
Coincidentally, a month after our first date my company offered me a management role in the Devon and Cornwall branch of the business and I had to make the tough decision of whether to move to live near Jamie or not. Jamie in fact suggested that we should move in together and although it seemed quick, I decided to take the plunge, moved jobs and also moved in with Jamie.
Over the Christmas break we visited the Lake District. Just to top off the year nicely, Jamie went down on one knee in the pouring rain by Lake Grasmere and proposed to me on New Year’s Eve! We also found out that we’re expecting our first baby in July so we’ll be getting married after the baby is born. I think we’ll both be concentrating on that for a little while first!”
