Renate and Kevin
Renate: “When we were matched we both thought the other person’s profile sounded very nice so started talking through the guided communications and then onto emailing through eHarmony. We seemed to be getting on really well and exchanged telephone numbers. Before our first call I was very nervous but as soon as I heard Kevin’s voice I was at ease. At the time I lived on the east coast of Scotland and because Kevin lives in the West Midlands we couldn’t meet up right away. I had to wait until I could get enough time off work to travel to see Kevin which was about two months after we got matched.
I took a coach from Dundee to Birmingham. It took about 8-10 hours and you can imagine how I felt! For the whole trip I was very, very nervous but excited and kept asking myself, ‘Am I doing the right thing?’ ‘How will it go when I meet Kevin?’ ‘Am I safe?’ The closer I got to Birmingham, the worse my nerves grew. When I arrived, Kevin picked me up at the bus station and we were both very shy at first. He took me to his auntie’s house where I would be staying for the week.
We spent just over a week together and in that time we realised how we think and feel the same about so many things. Kevin showed me around Birmingham and we started to really like each other. When my time came to go back home, I didn’t want to go! We had no idea when we would be able to see each other again.
After another month Kevin came to visit me in Scotland. This time when we said goodbye, it broke our hearts. After a lot of thought and discussion we decided together that I should move to Birmingham. I’m originally from Germany so all of my family are still based there but Kevin has a lot of friends and relatives in the UK so it made sense that I would live with him.
After quite some time Kevin proposed to me. I of course said yes and we are now planning our wedding. We would never have met if it wasn’t for eHarmony. Both of us were very disappointed in past relationships but now we’ll never look back.”
