Renate and David
Renate: “David initially contacted me as he thought I lived quite near to him but after sending a few messages he realised he had got my area wrong and that I actually lived quite a way away. By then we’d been starting to get to know each other and were enjoying our messages, so decided to meet, regardless of how far away he lived from each other, just to see how we got on.
So David booked in to a hotel near my house and I met him that evening for a meal and we just clicked. At first it was strange meeting someone in person after speaking online and feeling as though you knew them so well, even though we’d never actually met. Our first date is such a blur to me now!
We then had to make the effort to see each other and tried to do so as often as possible. It was difficult because David works most weekends and on the other hand, I only get weekends off. So we booked a holiday in April to really let us get to know each other and spend the whole week together. It was fabulous, so after that we doubled our efforts to see each other.
The day after my birthday, David had booked for us to stay in Liverpool, where we wined and dined and then he got down on one knee and proposed. It was magical! He had a birthday cake made for me, with the ring hidden inside. He’d made it so special and put so much effort into asking me to be his wife. After I’d obviously said yes, I was lucky enough to transfer with work so I could live with David. We found a house and things seemed to be going well, until I had some family troubles which meant I had to stay in Derbyshire. David was so supportive and moved to live with me, although he still has to travel quite a distance to work.
It’s really easy to give up if you don’t meet Mr. or Miss Right straight away, but I kept trying. If I hadn’t, I would never have met this wonderful man. He’s romantic, caring and we’re always on the same wavelength, which is exactly what I was looking for.”
