Natasha and John
Natasha: “I’d been through quite a difficult break up and had given up on dating and relationships entirely; I just wasn’t interested anymore. My colleagues kept telling me that I should try online dating but I had no desire to. They created an account for me with eHarmony (without me knowing) and then when it came to the long questionnaire they had to tell me so I could complete it myself. The questionnaire asks every question there could possibly be, I’m sure of it! I thought, though, that there must be something in it for it to be so long. I also thought that any man going through all of the questions must be serious about finding someone compatible with him and also looking for a relationship and not just a quick fling.
I do think that John and I had an instant connection from when we started emailing each other on eHarmony. I wanted to make sure that we were very compatible on email first and so didn’t meet up with him for a few months. I was quite aware of keeping my guard up and not rushing into anything. When we did meet up, we went to the cinema so it was relaxed and we would have something to talk about. The date went well but I wasn’t expecting after that date that we would be seeing each other all the time and as often as we could afterwards! We couldn’t see each other enough and met each other’s families so quickly. My mum and John are no inseparable and she is always cooking delicious meals for him – not for me anymore!
John’s proposal was a complete shock to me! We had discussed marriage but I wasn’t expecting him to propose when he did at all. I was about to go to New York with my mum to see my auntie who lives there. We were flying out on my birthday and I was rushing around trying to get everything together and John was waiting to drive me to the airport. All of a sudden, he got out a ring and proposed to me! I couldn’t believe it; I was speechless! Of course I said yes and got very emotional and it didn’t help that I was about to leave him for a week or so. I’d been so excited for New York but when I was there all I could think about was hurrying home to be with my fiancée; it was torture!
Our wedding is planned for next year and the preparations are all going very well. We’ve told ourselves that we’re going to have a break from wedding planning over Christmas because all we talk about is the wedding nowadays! We’re so excited for next year, getting married, the honeymoon in Thailand, and whatever the future has in store for us!”
