Lisa and Colin
Lisa: "My two daughters (aged 18 and 15) had watched me struggle for 10 years after my divorce, my father became ill and we moved in to help care for him – times were very difficult culminating in him passing away on 10th Jan 2008. The girls felt I should ‘get out there’ and meet someone – this was the last thing on my mind – I was grieving and was happy being a Mum, full stop.
A year passed and in the summer of 2009 they saw your ad on the TV and decided to apply on my behalf, they filled out the initial information and when they got stuck they finally admitted what they had done – after the initial shock I agreed the time was right and nothing ventured nothing gained.
As soon as Colin and I started with the questions and answers and reading his profile – I knew here was a kindred spirit who had the same values as I did. One of my questions was –‘if you were a bar of chocolate, which one would you be?’ he answered – Cadburys Caramel, delicious with a soft centre – good answer! I knew then he was special. We progressed to e-mailing and then texting very quickly. Our first phone call was magical, two hours long and we then spoke and texted every day – we felt not meeting for the first few weeks was ideal as we got to know the real person. We saw photos of each other and finally met at the end of September when Colin flew over – I knew I loved him even then.
He is the most wonderful man, the true love of my life and when he proposed on 13th October I was delighted to accept. We are getting married in two weeks and we are so very happy. I feel I have met my other half and I will love him for life. He has relocated here and the kids think he is great."
