Jess and Peter

London

Jess: “I joined eHarmony with a friend on payday but wasn’t too serious really. I had five dates in total but there was never a spark until Pete. We got on instantly and had the best time together, not getting home until 3am! We spoke every day, saw each other as often as we could, and began to meet each other’s friends and families.

His family are big skiers and hugely passionate about it. All the partners that have married into the family have had to learn to ski; I was no different and I was excited to learn!

Pete and I planned a last minute holiday to go skiing in Switzerland. Well, it wasn’t last minute for him; he’d bought my ring three months previous and was planning to propose on this holiday – he’s lucky I didn’t go through his pockets when I was packing!

On our first evening on the slopes, we’d been for an amazing meal and decided to go for an evening ski. Shortly after I had fallen head first into the show, we stopped and he presented me with this amazing ring. Although it was blindingly obvious, I was so shocked and it was so unexpected and he didn’t say anything. I prompted him that he had to actually ask, so he did, and I said, “of course!”

As for the wedding plans, nothing is set in stone apart from it being the summer of 2015 and having one of our favourite bands playing music for us. Everything else is yet to be decided!”

Peter: “I knew I wanted to propose in Murren, where my family go skiing every year because it’s such a special place to me. My dad helped me organise the holiday and the proposal and it was actually him who’d said to me months before, “Pete, you need to marry this girl”. He saw how amazing she was and how well she got on with my daughter. I knew that I was going to marry her.

On the first evening of our holiday, we’d had a romantic dinner together and I was going over in my head when would be the best time to propose. We went for a ski after dinner and had a break. I pretended that I’d dropped my gloves – it was the first thing I could think of, I was quite nervous! I bent down to ‘pick them up’ and I just stayed down and got out the ring that I’d been carrying around in my pocket everywhere for the last three months! She said yes and we skied back down the slope.”
