Yemi and Rob
Yemi: “I personally chose eHarmony because I wanted to be able to choose who I dated and eventually plan my future with. My hectic life rarely allows me to meet someone, get to know them and keep the interest going and people rarely start talking about their values immediately, which is something eHarmony very much celebrates. I joined eHarmony with high hopes but was also conscious that it would still require a certain level of time and commitment. In my case about 400 matches into my membership, with no captivating match, I came across Rob's profile. His profile picture grabbed my attention enough to read his profile and all of a sudden I was even more attracted to him. Without thinking too hard I sent him an icebreaker (making the first move isn't usually my strength but on this occasion I put pride aside). Robert responded and we went through Guided Communication which just got more exciting and intensified as time went on. To be honest we both had things on our profiles which could have potentially been deal-breakers, but we both share the trait of not judging a book by its cover so we decided to get to know each other better.
Robert is from Northern California and I'm from London. Considering the distance we were keen about each other enough to want to meet and so we met on 31st October in Thailand. I'd say we had a series of dates but the first meeting was at Bangkok International Airport. We had planned to meet at 9.30pm but we were so excited that we hadn’t arranged the exact meeting point! By 11.30pm I was so sure this was eHarmony gone wrong but then I saw Robert walking towards me and felt a sense of relief, happiness and a little nervousness. He was real! The rest of our week-long date included staying at the best beach resort in Phuket, pizza on the beach, swimming in the sea, attending shows, going elephant trekking and dining in amazing restaurants.
I then went to meet Rob in South Korea in December and he asked me to marry him. We are both happy and excited about the future and plan to get married in London next year. We’ll then have a blessing in California so that Robert’s family can attend. Robert is located globally with his job so next year after the wedding I’ll be relocating to Japan with my daughter. Sometimes I feel the need to pinch myself!
By no means is any relationship a walk in the park and it requires a lot of work, especially if it’s long-distance. eHarmony just provides the platform for meeting someone that a lot of us struggle to get onto, especially in my case as a single parent. Thank you eHarmony!”
Rob: “I decided to commit to eHarmony after realising that I had no time for dating with my work schedule and moving from location to location there was a limited pool to date within. The beauty behind eHarmony is that it matches you with people that share your intellect, values and beliefs and provides a stress-free environment for meeting potential matches. I was not expecting to fall in love with a woman that is articulate, beautiful, complex and so full of love, but I did when I met Yemi. Our relationship has been full of blessings and milestones and our next is marriage. Thank you eHarmony for helping me fulfill my pursuit of happiness.”
