Mark and Emily
Mark: “Emily and I were matched in early December 2009. We arranged to meet for a Christmas drink on 22nd December in a pub near where we both lived.
When we met, I immediately realised why it took me two hours to sign up to eHarmony. Asking so many questions ensured that the girl sitting opposite me was so perfectly matched; I was quite taken aback and how easy and fun her company was. Emily was just like me, but thankfully far more beautiful!
Fast forward 10 days and Emily came to my house for dinner for our second date. What neither of us counted on however, was being snowed in for five days together, but it was the happiest most carefree five days I had experienced in years. From that moment on I knew I was in love.
Emily and I became inseparable - she had a home in Guildford but I really don't remember her ever staying there and within the year we had properly moved into my little barn together (she slowly took over the storage space, from having a single drawer for her bits and bobs, to having three quarters of the wardrobe)!
On August 20th 2011, on a gorgeous summer’s day, we went for a picnic at a beautiful, secluded, 13th century moat house in the woods near where we lived. I proposed to Emily over Champagne and strawberries with a ring specially made with rubies and diamonds from both my grandmothers’ engagement rings.
On November 12th last year, in front of our family and closest friends, Emily and I were married in the winter wedding she had always talked about and longed for. We then had an amazing evening in our local village pub with roaring log fires and a stunning, three course dinner that literally left the room speechless.
I never truly believed I would find my perfect match after many failed relationships and a disastrous first marriage, but with Emily by my side I know I will always have everything I need.
We have now been married for six months and I know deep down in my soul that Emily and I will be laughing, joking and loving each other till we are old and grey.”
