Hannah and Sam
Hannah: “I joined eHarmony in January 2011. It was my birthday and I was feeling pretty low. I had a few dates with not much success and thought internet dating was the way to go. The application process was very thorough, a plus if you want to be matched with people of similar values and thoughts on life. Along with about 10 matches, I was matched with Sam, and fell for his profile straight away. His personality stood out and I could get a gist of how he liked to spend his spare time from his profile.
I then decided to contact him. This is brilliantly controlled on the website. You go through different stages of questioning and I found all of the stages so helpful. After those stages we were definitely ready to meet each other. We exchanged mobile numbers and text to meet up for a drink. The evening flowed wonderfully and I felt myself relax far more than on other first dates. It just took off from that first date and all fell into place.
We got engaged during the next July. Sam surprised me with a weekend away to Alderley Edge. I had no idea where we were going - Sam even packed my bag for me, along with my passport and warm clothes to throw me off the trail of where we were actually going. Sam even told me that we were going camping, which I hate! He'd taken my parents out for a meal the week before to ask my Dad if he could marry me (without telling me)! It was a very thoughtful weekend. One day we took a picnic to a nice park and then Sam gave me a present. He’d made me a photo album of photos of us together throughout our relationship and at the end of the album was a game of hangman spelling out ‘Will you marry me?’ Then the bottle of Moet appeared and of course I was in tears. After the weekend, his parents threw a big surprise party for us to celebrate and invited my parents too. It was perfect!
We are so happy we both registered with eHarmony. We feel very lucky that we found each other."
